Add ’em up

While I’m busy not writing Chapter 4, have a fuzzy picture of an old poem:

One + One

My sister-in-law was good enough to take a picture of this five-year-old wedding present and email it to me so that I could fake new, fresh content without having to redraw it, though I did pull out ye olde Microsoft Paint to redo the text. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out what I used for the original font, so it doesn’t quite fit in the box like it’s supposed to. Pay no attention to the uneven framing device, meant to hide that fact.

This is part of a series of poems on what I call “God math.” When 1 + 1 =1 and 3 = 1 and…well, actually, I’m suddenly realizing there are only two poems in the “series.” Still. I love apologetics, but sometimes you’ve just got to step back and admit that you’ll never rationalize everything. Naturally, structured rhyme schemes form the backbone of my response to the impossible.

I’ll be back to work on Pine & Meyer tomorrow. I made it through graduation at work and I’m officially out of excuses.

So the work is done. Now get back to work!

Dangit! I hate repeating the same word (and I mean key word; pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, and determiners need not apply) in the same paragraph (dur-hur). You can tell I was tired.

Also, you have no idea the mental strength it’s taking to fight off the urge and temptation to get in there and fix it, rendering your comment obsolete.

My comment works on so many levels. “Funny” on its own (by making fun of you in a big brother sort of way), and funny because it hits that last paragraph just right.

And wouldn’t be the first time you’ve edited something out from under me. 😉

(Though the best case of that was when I commented so fast after the post went up, that I didn’t even know that you’d changed it to more directly reference what I was saying. So good times.)

Ha! I remember that one. Aragorn misrepresenting his speech, if I’m remembering correctly. And yeah, that one wasn’t purposeful — you just jumped in on it in the thirty seconds between posting and editing. So that one’s on you.

Had the opportunity to read your Apples are Apples this morning at the St. Paul’s Men’s Bible study. Couldn’t pass up the chance after Pr. Dewell tried to use the American Flag as a prop to explain the Trinity in his children’s sermon. It was a big, fat, slow curve I couldn’t pass up. The men loved it.
